General Spanky plot
Just before the start of the American Civil War, 6-year-old shoe shiner Spanky Leonard jumps off a riverboat on the Mississippi after his new boyfriend Buckwheat painted some of the passengers' shoes white to increase their sales. Buckwheat fears being shot as a runaway slave and soon follows Spankey. Both boys go ashore and then look for food. They get involved in the civil war.
