Forty Winks plot
"The JOLLIEST BANG-UP COMEDY IN YEARS!"
The Butterworth family lawyer, Gaspar Le Sage, a suitor vying for Eleanor Butterworth's hand, convinces a beautiful Eurasian adventuress, Annabelle Wu, to help him steal the official plans for the California Coastal Defenses from Eleanor's brother, Lieutenant Butterworth. Annabelle gets the susceptible lieutenant drunk at a roadside diner, steals his keys, and gets the plans. The blame for the theft is laid at the feet of British Secret Service agent Lord Chumley, engaged to Eleanor, who immediately sets out to clear his own name and save the family honor.
