"A tragicomedy based on a true story"
Mimi is an immigrant from poor Sicily, but now lives in rich Northern Italy. There he meets the lawyer Matteo. His business partner's widow Ketty is an old lover of Mimi's from his school days in Sicily. Mimi is still in love with Ketty and takes his chances. Ketty exploits him quite a bit and starts an expensive boutique in which Mimi invests a lot of money.
