Against her parents' wishes, Dani from Brooklyn, New York, chooses to study in Atlanta. There the university is known for its show band and Dani wants to join the once prominent drum ensemble. She wants to revive the band and become the first female percussion leader. But several things stand in the way of her mission: her cousin Tyree, her feelings for bandmate and rival Jayven, and the competition from outside the university.
