Die Schöne Lügnerin plot
Vienna, 1815. The leaders of the European kingdoms meet at a congress to redefine the borders after the fall of Napoleon. Meanwhile, a young man pretends to be a valet and tries to win over the modest tailor Fanny. However, he turns out to be Count Waldau, Prince Metternich's private secretary. When Metternich learns of this relationship, he tries to persuade Fanny's grandfather to end it. No sooner said than done, but Fanny is not satisfied with it. She dresses up as a male musician and goes to the congress. Feeling cheated by Martin, as Count Waldau called herself to her, she flirts with the Russian Tsar Alexander.
