Der Sandmann plot

One fine morning Benno finds sand in his bed. While he tries to ignore this at first, he soon has to accept that his body is losing sand. Day by day the sand increases and with that its time appears to be literally shortening. He has no choice and asks Sandra, who has a small coffee shop under his apartment, for help. Although Benno hates her with great passion, he begins to dream of her every night. What could Sandra and the dreams have to do with the sand?
