Very original and surprising German thieves' comedy from just before WWII with a plot that is fast-paced, captivating and also involves several "changes of course". Particularly funny is that the laughing man turns out to be Sir Conon Doyle .
Smooth performances by many people from the cast, but very striking, besides the better known Heinz Rühman, is the performance of Hans Albers, very expressive and clearly a man who must also have made it in the silent film era.
