Writer Thomas Krauss is not very enthusiastic when he hears that his serious novel 'Das Einfache Mädchen' will be turned into a musical with the up-and-coming talent Caterina Bastiani in the lead role. Disguised as his new maidservant, the disappointed Caterina sets out in search of the reluctant author to convince him of her qualities.
