Corentin, ou Les Infortunes Conjugales plot

In the seventeenth century, somewhere in a small village in France, Corentin, a wealthy butcher, marries the beautiful but naive Clémence. The wedding ceremony is prematurely interrupted by a thunderstorm, leaving Corentin distraught. His mother-in-law takes the opportunity to let the girl marry someone else and take a large part of his possessions from him. Corentin does not give up, however.
