Very nice.

Smooth horror comedy that exceeds expectations. This is mainly because I have been tired of zombies for about 10 years now, so yet another zombie parody didn't seem like the most fun thing to do. But based on some actors I gave it a chance. Rightly so, as it turned out.

Woods remains a terrible actor, yes, but if you see him as a producer somewhere, there is a good chance that the film will stand out positively. He has an eye for more unusual genre work, so let's just say that he is quite insufferable on camera. Wilson does a lot better, but the rest of the cast is also more than decent.

Furthermore, it would be nice to keep "the disease" only among children. Quite a sacred place there in America, so when Wilson starts replaying the Irréversible scene like crazy on a child it's quite a laugh. It is not surprising that the gore often remains off screen, this film does not attempt to be Braindead. Could have made it better, but I didn't find it disturbing.

The first 20 minutes are by far the best, after that the humor is slightly less clever and surprising. But the film loses little to no pace, it doesn't last too long and it remains funny. Very entertaining snack, unfortunately it is not surprising that the average here is again much too low.

3.5*

Some funny gore now and then, a great first scene (nice and smooth and full of ideas), a child being beaten to a pulp as a humorous highlight and a single scene that stands out (with that tricycle and that music was quite okay). But otherwise very boring, never really fun and all those scenes between the gore are shot statically and take away any form of pace or tension. And that's most of the movie.1.5*.

Obvious, largely easy-going horror comedy, written by Leigh Whannell (Upgrade, The Invisible Man), who also has a major supporting role here. It's not one of his better scripts. The film starts off okay, with a lot of funny jokes and a nice introduction to the characters, but things quickly get stuck in rather exaggerated and overblown situations. Then things don't work out anymore.
