Comrade X plot
"This Year's Laugh Riot!"
McKinley B. "Mac" Thompson, an American journalist in Moscow, smuggles uncensored news from Russia under the assumed name "Comrade X". But hotel employee Vanya discovers his secret. Fearing for the safety of his daughter Golubka, Vanya blackmails journalist Mac into getting his lovely daughter out of the country. Mac likes that, especially now that he's met her, but can he convince her of his sincerity so that she goes out of the country with him?

Sharp and sharp dialogues with a delightful interaction between Gable and Lamarr.
I can barely remember a movie in which Gable comes across as so funny and which made me feel a bit
reminiscent of William Powell's carefree play. The beautiful Lamarr is playing nicely
spicy. The other roles are also amusingly filled in this lively film in which
the comic definitely has the upper hand, with some crazy action with tanks at the end.

The ending is funny , otherwise a slightly amusing film with some political touches but it all remains quite light , Gable does have talent as a comedian .
