Cap au Large plot

Father Boquet is an old and sad man. He hopes that his son François would become a fisherman like him. But François moves to the city, follows his evil friend Simon whom he looks up to and succumbs to the charms of the influential Lisa. A brave village teacher goes to visit him when his father falls ill, hoping to bring him back.
