Polly's aunt wants the girl to marry a quiet and respectable businessman, Dick Barton. But Polly runs away from home to join her friend Zoe, who is living in an artists' colony. There, Polly is fascinated by Paul Lamont, a poet, who courts her and invites her to his home, forgetting to mention that he is already married and the father of two. While Lamont and Polly are flirting, they are caught red-handed by Mrs. Lamont, who, suspecting something, has returned home surprised.
