Car designer Kazuko is in love with Torao, as is her cousin Umeko. The boyfriend of Kazuko's sister Kataoka is not interested in the sister, but in Kazuko. Torao likes Kazuko, but if she lingers too long, he chooses Umeko and marries her. Kazuko is urged not to give up and she makes a drastic decision: she emigrates to the United States.
