The unassailable position of actress Riki (Katharina Thalbach) is threatened by the rising star Nina (Theresa Hübchen), who is not afraid to share the bed with everyone to rise higher. A fierce battle develops between the two actresses to be allowed to play in the next film of the film producer Georg (Harald Juhnke). What they don't know is that George is completely dependent on his wealthy wife Lore (Christiane Hörbiger), who is meanwhile flirting with her driver (Detlev Buck).
