People who are expected to provide clarity and help and who act like a cowardly cowardly around the pot, immediately get a firm patch around the ears.
A good start for a substantive, funny film!?
Dupontel's film is although I find it difficult to appreciate the background, namely a woman who only takes an interest in her child when she knows she is dying.
The goal is to bring some heart warming and that this is achieved with imaginative computer resources also makes it funny.
The two characters who guide and assist Suze are misfits - but people of good will! - just like director Dupontel who likes to alternate content, madness, fantasy and sentiment in his films.
Not exactly the humor I like, though.

A nice satire in that typical French style. Not the atmosphere or magic of an Amélie Poulain or Au revoir la haut, but with colorful caricatural characters who end up in absurd situations. Not great all, but quite entertaining for an hour and a half.

Suze goes looking for her child that she gave up at birth and, due to all kinds of circumstances, meets two civil servants. One has a failed suicide attempt, but because of this failed action he is held responsible for the manslaughter of a colleague and the blind man literally ended up in the archive's well of oblivion. The latter seems to me one of those who could sit at home for a year without anyone noticing that he is not there and just collect his salary.

The film also maintains a balance between comedy and drama. And even towards the end it even gets a bit romantic. An ending that I didn't see coming, quite drastic anyway, but no less successful for that. It makes you think about how society sometimes treats misfits.

Excellent film about a woman who has only a short time to live and goes in search of her child. An original story that is also playfully portrayed here. Mildly absurd and quite busy. Towards the end there are some quieter moments and the film also knows how to move. A narrow 4.0 stars.
