A Sad State of Affairs plot

A man dreams of one day breathing new life into America's small-scale vaudeville circuit. In the meantime, however, he stands along deserted roads as a handyman for passers-by. One day he meets Sandra. She didn't notice him and that fascinated him. Coincidentally, they stay in the same motel. The man decides to do everything he can to keep Sandra there.
