A Million to Burn plot

Thomas Gwynne has just graduated and takes a job as a waiter in a mountain hotel. Due to circumstances, he is suddenly promoted to manager of the hotel. Thomas turns the hotel into a Utopia-like environment and encourages his employees to be creative. The finances are lagging behind and the business is in danger of heading for bankruptcy. Then Gwynne inherits a million dollars and he decides to buy the hotel. This, too, turns out to be a failure and his staff begins to make ridiculous demands. Gwynne resorts to using his fists to put things in order.
