A Spanish-American family lives in an old house on the edge of a drought-stricken town. The family accepts an impossible blessing and names their only son Sailboat. Sailboat brings new love and hope to his family, who build a simple but proud life in America's deep Southwest, but one afternoon he brings home something more: a "little guitar". From then on, Sailboat and his ukulele are inseparable and when his seriously ill grandmother orders him to write a song for her, Sailboat winds through adversity to deliver the unimaginable - the best song ever written.
