13 Stühle plot
The penniless hairdresser Felix Rabe (Rühmann) travels to Vienna to receive the legacy of his late Aunt Barbara. His disappointment is enormous when he finds that the legacy consists of only thirteen chairs. In order to at least pay for the return journey, he sells the chairs to Alois Hofbauer (Moser), a second-hand dealer. Rabe spends the night at his aunt's house and finds a letter in which she writes that 100,000 Mark is hidden in one of the chairs. The next day, it turns out that the seats have all been sold to different customers, and Rabe and Hofbauer embark on a wild hunt to find the wealth.
