Wilma plot

This film tells the inspiring story of Wilma Rudolph, who was infected with polio in her youth, but was able to overcome this terrible disease. For this, she had to be treated twice a week in a hospital 80 km away. She received physiotherapy and specific massages for many years. At eight she could walk without crutches and at eleven she was able to play basketball with her brother again. When she was twelve she decided to take up sports. First basketball, where she and her high school team became champions of Tennessee, then athletics. At the 1956 Olympics, Wilma Rudolph won bronze in the 4 x 100 m relay. In Rome 1960, she became the first American athlete to win three gold medals: in the 100 m, 200 m and 4 x 100 m relay. She was also eight times the American champion.
