The Fire Inside plot
Young Claressa Shields sneaks into a boxing gym to spar with the boys. Local volunteer coach Jason Crutchfield quickly takes her under his wing. Claressa proves to be extremely talented, but Crutchfield must soon go above and beyond the call of duty to keep her on the straight and narrow as she begins to feel not only the pressure of winning, but also the gaze of her beleaguered hometown of Flint, Michigan, looking for hope in her resilience.

Nice sports drama. The true story is closely followed and reasonably worked out. It is all very standard with little real depth. But the film is easy to watch and they do not exaggerate with the box scenes, which keeps it realistic. The acting is otherwise okay, but the actors do not know how to convey the emotion to the viewer. Visually well shot. 3.0/3.5
