Astrid plot

Astrid Lindgren takes center stage in this documentary. Lindgren, born in 1907 in Vimmerby, Sweden, had a carefree childhood on a farm. She could write well as a child. After the Second World War, the first book about her most famous creation Pippi Longstocking was published. This is how her writing flourished. The film portrays a quirky and independent woman with a big secret, which she incorporated in her stories about lonely boys and strong girls.
