Christmas Eve has arrived and the Staalboom family is unpacking all the presents. Their seven-year-old daughter Marie receives a very special gift from grandfather Drosselmeyer: a mysterious wooden Nutcracker. At night all the dolls come to life: The Nutcracker, all the wooden soldiers and also the evil seven-headed mouse king with his army of mice. The Nutcracker turns out to be a real prince who has been enchanted by an evil curse. To break the curse, he must win Marie's love and together defeat the evil seven-headed mouse king. Only then can he take her to his magical kingdom...
