Dixieland Droopy plot
John Irving Pettybone is a dog who loves to listen to Dixieland jazz. It even goes so far as to listen to "Tiger Rag" continuously while pretending to be the conductor. However, the landlord where Pettybone lives can no longer hear the number.

I wrote at The Flea Circus that it was nice that Avery came up with something new instead of going back on previous successes, but now he certainly does just that... Dixieland Droopy is another classic Droopy short, but then combined with the idea of the fleas from the previous short. The result is only so-so because a) that typical Droopy vibe is missing and b) the fleas remain underexposed. A few running jokes that are still fun in themselves, such as Droopy trying to play his record with Dixieland music everywhere but you shouldn't do this for that. It also seems like Droopy looks different here, but I can't immediately put my finger on what the difference is.
