Comme un Fleuve plot
Thao and Sao Maï are two sisters from Saigon who were separated during the Vietnam War. Thao, the youngest, flees the country by boat to Malaysia. Sao Maï, the eldest, stays with her parents in Vietnam. For some a life abroad, for others war and communism. They write letters to each other for many years, in which they tell about their lives, until their reunion.
