When the song "Forever Young" by Alphaville sounded through the speakers, it was clear where the film drew its inspiration from. From the magic eighties represented by Spielberg. It is a rather unsuccessful mash-up of Ghostbusters (here UFO hunters), Close Encounters, revival films such as Super8 and X-Files.
Unfortunately you don't get to see any UFOs and the story strays into worm holes The story of Denise's disappeared father is very clumsily incorporated into this whole. Believing is more important than knowing, it sounds wise, and sounds like a lame excuse to justify special effects and plot poverty. I already believed in a good movie, now I know this is a pretty bad movie.
This youth film goes steadily downhill to end in an anticlimax. Disappointing because the film actually doesn't have much to do with UFOs.

Nice, well-made children's film with an adult edge about a rebellious teenager (Inez Dahl Torhaug) who suspects that her father is not dead but has been abducted by aliens. Torhaug is not exactly sympathetic in the lead role, but fortunately the characters around her are and the film is entertaining and intriguing enough to compensate for this. Director Victor Danell (responsible for the boring but technically impressive The Unthinkable a few years ago) is in any case a talent to keep an eye on.
