Timm Thaler oder Das Verkaufte Lachen plot
"When a child laughs, the devil loses his power."
The orphaned boy Timm Thaler has always been a friendly and sociable boy. Just because of his infectious laugh, the sympathy of his fellow human beings flies around his ears. For this reason, the immensely rich and unscrupulous Baron Lefuet has offered the boy a very special deal: Timm is guaranteed to be very richly rewarded if he sells his smile to the Baron. The boy cannot resist the tempting offer. But without his smile, the pleasure fades more and more from his increasingly lonely life. But Timm's friends Kreschimir and Ida don't want to sit idly by. Together they come up with a plan to get Timm's laughter from the Baron.
