Il Viaggio della Sposa plot

In the 17th century, Portia (Giovanna Mezzogiorno) leaves the monastery for a perilous journey to her betrothed in southern Italy. Shortly after departure, her travel group is ambushed by robbers. Only Portia, the groom-to-be Bartolo (Sergio Rubini), who is on his way to his bride, and Captain Palagano (Carlo Mucari) survive the robbery. When the captain also dies moments later, Portia and Bartolo are left alone to continue the difficult and dangerous journey...
