Der Seewolf plot
The writer Humphrey van Weyden is on a ferry near San Francisco on his way to his friend when he is rammed by another ship and is shipwrecked. Van Weyden is hoisted aboard a boat by seal catcher 'Ghost', of which Wolf Larsen, nicknamed Seewolf, is the captain. He conducts a harsh and inhumane regime. Larsen refuses to stop at Van Weyden's request to drop him off ashore. When more castaways are taken on board after a great storm, including the enchanting poet Maud Brewste whom they both fall in love with, their rivalry degenerates into a struggle for survival.
