"He was a quiet man . . ."
Young director Steven Penny is determined to make the "best crime film in color ever". But he just can't get the script to finish: he has a beginning and an end, but in between it's blank. When Kim, his landlord's daughter, finds a discarded version of his script, she's delighted with such a 'movie world type' in her environment. She decides to help him and makes sure that Penny gets in touch with someone who is willing to work on the script: the strange Dr. jolly.
