Ray Quick is a former CIA bomb expert who now lives as an outsider in Miami. May Munro has heard of his qualities and tries to persuade him to bomb the perpetrators of an attack on his parents. Ray is interested in the offer, but stands by his decision never to show his tricks again. When a former CIA colleague shows up, the situation changes dramatically.

A real 90s action movie that I can always enjoy. The mumbling action hero Stallone, an incredibly sexy Sharon Stone, and a grimace bad guy in James Woods. It's wonderful to immerse yourself in the good old days sometimes. There's very little action for an action movie, and it's mostly a cat-and-mouse game between bomb experts Stallone and Woods. With Stone walking through it like a femme fatale. The Specialist is audiovisually the most special, with a fine soundtrack by John Barry.

The story is mediocre and often illogical or even clumsy. The bold characters still take this film to an entertaining level, with the ridiculous but very amusing role of Woods leading the way. Nice supporting role from Roberts also as creep and Stone as femme fatale; Stallone is actually stark at this.
