Finland's Independence Day celebrations on December 6 are brutally disrupted by an attack on the presidential palace. A number of high-ranking guests are taken hostage. Security officer Max Tanner is deployed as a negotiator in the hostage crisis, and it soon becomes clear that the main objective behind the terrorist attack is a plan to destabilize Europe's security. Tanner must make bold and even painful decisions to find out who is behind the attack. After all, not only are human lives to be protected, but the future of Europe as a whole is also at stake.

Good thriller/action movie. The story could be almost current and in hindsight is not very complex. The effect is quite successful. The build up is good and the tension is built up strongly. Tension alternates with action. Towards the end, the story takes an unrealistic turn with a lot of action, which unfortunately comes at the expense of the story and the tension. The acting is also okay. Visually, the film is successful with good camera shots. Great thriller, just a pity about the ending. 3.5

Fine movie. Fits very well in the row of Scandinavian crime films/thrillers. Beautiful locations, a few cool action scenes for example the chase, good acting performed on a reasonable plot. Considering the year of production, a foresight and despite the interference from outside, Finland does join NATO. Too bad they crammed so much nonsense into the last 5 minutes.
