Lightning Speed plot

Jack Pemberton is a news reporter who works for a newspaper. He is in love with Betty Standish, the daughter of a governor. He learns that Velvet, a notorious mobster, plans to kidnap Betty to put pressure on the governor. He can use his influence to free Velvet's brother, who is awaiting his death sentence. Jack tries to warn Betty, but it's too late. Now Jack must track down Velvet and Betty to save her and stop Velvet.
