Opportunistic Korean War veteran Tully Gibbs poses as a friend of mine owner Kevin Russell's late son. Tully plans to take over the mine, then sell it, and then retire with Sarah Moffit, the girlfriend of Russell's late son. Tully is becoming more honest though, but the same cannot be said of his rival and miner Ben Hodes. Tully takes it upon himself to protect Russell's mine from Hodes' shady schemes.
