Pretty okay.

Du Welz himself calls it his most terrible experience as a director, the true story behind this film is also quite difficult to find. Apart from some fragments left and right, not much is written about it. The result is a bit soulless and dead, while there were quite a few ingredients present to deliver a good film.

Visually, Debie is fine, although the editing is often rather bland and bland. That quick assembly of putting together a rifle at the very beginning, for example. Very classic, but poorly executed. I didn't like the soundtrack either. Some electronic tunes that try to give the film some drive, but it sits too much in the background and remains too tame.

I thought the acting was the biggest drawback. Perset lacks charisma, Starr really can't act. In retrospect, it doesn't help me that he was apparently the big bogeyman. Nice to see Nahon, but he has 5 lines of text and disappears immediately. Fortunately, the atmosphere is good. Drizzly, dark and quite grimy. That makes the film quite enjoyable, with a nice action scene left and right for variety.

But you clearly notice that Du Welz's heart was not in it. Whether this is due to the project, or the genre, or because he was not there at the end is difficult to say, but this film is clearly a step or two below his normal work. I certainly didn't think it was bad, there is still enough quality behind this production to take it a long way, but that's about it.

3.5*

Messy unbelievable movie. A weapons depot on the street corner, a firearms erase kit with the social power of a refrigerator and of course the famous French corruption.

The acting is done without soul.

The enormous gloom that is apparently supposed to drip off has been achieved through dark images, rain, and depressing faces.

The action scenes are okay.

Quickly forgotten.

Director Fabrice du Welz makes a strange choice by directing a film like Colt 45 and the tumultuous production period is therefore not exactly a surprise. Although there are still some beautiful images to be found, the whole thing makes a rather dull impression. In terms of content it is not very interesting and when it comes to the action the film lacks highlights. Only occasionally can a scene be found that is worth watching, but these cannot make the playing time any more bearable. The acting is not very interesting, although I thought Ymanol Perset fit his role well. Colt 45 is a film that clearly did not want to be made and therefore looks relatively abandoned. At times entertaining and well shot, but largely on the boring side.
