Chain Gang plot

"When justice is a dirty word, hate is the only passion."

McPherson helps a girl who wants to get out of a brothel. Lohman, a respected citizen, actually owns this brothel. He gives chase and the girl is murdered in a motel. McPherson pays for this murder and is sentenced to 15 years hard labor. Freddy, a fellow inmate, tells McPherson that the prison warden makes people work for Lohman. Freddy is murdered. When McPherson also has to work for Lohman, he investigates his house. McPherson is caught and after a chase, McPherson ends up with the authorities with evidence against Lohman. However, the sheriff is also paid by Lohman and McPherson ends up in the prison camp again.
