Scarlett Johansson was a key part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe through her role as Black Widow / Natasha Romanoff, which she played for over a decade.
In Avengers: Endgame, Natasha sacrifices her own life so that her friend Clint Barton can claim the Soul Stone in the Infinity Stone battle against Thanos.
Johansson would subsequently appear in the prequel movie, Black Widow, but she insists that she is now done with the MCU.
“I’m done,” she said on Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop podcast when asked if she would ever return as Natasha.
“Chapter is over. I did all that I had to do. Also coming back and playing a character again and again, over a decade of time, is such a unique experience.”
Paltrow also featured in the MCU as Pepper Potts, and although she remains alive at the conclusion of Endgame, the Oscar winner reckons she probably won't return either.
“I mean, I’m a bit old to be in a suit and all that at this point,” she said.
“I feel very lucky that I did it because I actually got talked into it. I was friends with Jon Favreau. It was such a wonderful experience making the first ‘Iron Man’ and then to watch how important it has become to the fans.”
No feud between Johansson and Paltrow
Johansson made her MCU debut in Iron Man 2, and around the time of filming, internet rumours gathered traction that she did not get on well with co-star Paltrow.
It seems that those rumours are nonsense, however.
“People ask me, ‘Is it true that you and Scarlett Johansson didn’t get along on ‘Iron Man’?” Paltrow revealed.
“Is that a rumour?” Johansson responded.
“You were so nice to me on that movie. I was so petrified. You were so nice to me! You could’ve been awful. I was so out of my comfort zone on that movie. I’d never done anything like that before.
"Plus, you had established such deep friendships.”
Paltrow mentioned that the entire cast was "psyched" that Johansson was on board the movie.
