It seems Batman fans will have to wait a little bit longer to find out more tidbits about The Batman: Part II as Jeffrey Wright hasn't even seen a script yet.
In 2022, the Caped Crusader returned to our screens with The Batman, which was and still is intended to be the first movie in a trilogy. It was written and directed by Matt Reeves, with Robert Pattinson playing Bruce Wayne, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Paul Dano as Riddler, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman and Colin Farrell as Penguin.
It was a critical and commercial success, earning $772 million at the box office. It may not have hit the billion-dollar mark, but that can be attributed to the Covid pandemic.
Fans and critics were impressed with how dark Reeves' vision for the movie proved to be.
A sequel was announced in April of 2022, while in January of 2023 the title was announced, simply The Batman: Part II.
Since then, news has been few and far between as we don't know the plot or which villains might be involved.
And, the actors haven't even read the script.
When asked by Deadline if he is returning as Commissioner Gordon, Wright replied: "That's the plan. I haven't read the script yet, but that's the plan."
The Batman: Part II is still scheduled to be released in October of 2025, with filming set to commence in August of 2024.
But, it seems like we'll need to sit tight over the next few months to wait for more exciting announcements.
