Thomas Haden Church says conversations have been had about Sandman potentially making another appearance in the next Spider-Man movie.
The actor played the role of Sandman / Flint Marko in Spider-Man 3 and returned alongside other supervillains Green Goblin, Doc-Oc, Electro and Lizard in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
In No Way Home, various characters from previous Spider-Man movies made their return, including Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as their own versions of Peter Parker.
Sandman played a small role in No Way Home, but Church reveals that he nearly had an expanded narrative focusing on the character's relationship with his daughter - and there is a possibility that this plot point could return in another Spider-Man outing.
“We had a whole story involving his daughter for No Way Home,” Church said to The DisInsider’s Dempsey Pillot.
“And it just ended up… there was just so much going on, and Jon and I, and Amy and Kevin , we all had a lot of conversations. And I would say that conversations have been had about the possibility of Sandman coming into a future iteration of it.
“The conversation has happened about him coming back and maybe picking up a more fulfilling story with Flint and being, not just Sandman, but returning to human form."
At the conclusion of No Way Home, everyone forgets about the existence of Peter Parker, played by Tom Holland, who has since admitted that his narrative cycle may be over.
But, Sony executive Pascal has suggested the plan is for Holland to return.
