The Mean Girls remake was released recently to positive reviews.
It is based on the Mean Girls musical which is, in turn, based on the 2004 original, starring Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams.
Tina Fey wrote both and returns as her character Mrs. Norbury.
The official premise reads:
'New student Cady Heron gets welcomed into the top of the social food chain by an elite group of popular girls called the Plastics, ruled by the conniving queen bee Regina George. However, when Cady makes the major misstep of falling for Regina's ex-boyfriend, she soon finds herself caught in their crosshairs.'
Towards the end of the 2024 version, Lohan pops up for a cameo appearance, playing the host of the North Shore's mathletes competition.
She played Cady Heron in the original, and gives a bit of advice to the new version of Cady in the remake.
According to Variety, she was paid a cool $500,000 for her short cameo, which only took half a day to film.
Mean Girls reunion
Rachel McAdams has revealed why she was absent for the recent Mean Girls reunion.
The reunion in question saw former plastics, Amanda Seyfried, Lindsay Lohan and Lacey Chabert reunite in a commercial for Walmart.
McAdams wasn't keen on featuring in an advert - and didn't know her pals were returning until after it was filmed.
"I don't know; I guess I wasn't that excited about doing a commercial if I'm being totally honest," the actress told Variety.
"A movie sounded awesome, but I've never done commercials, and it just didn't feel like my bag. Also...I didn't know that everyone was doing it. I would, of course, always love to be part of a Mean Girls reunion and hang with my plastics, but yeah, I found that out later."
