John Cena will likely leave WWE when the Screen Actors Guild strike ends.
Over the last few months, actors and writers went on strike at the same time in Hollywood for the first time since the 1960s. The Writers Guild of America recently announced that an agreement had been reached for writers to return to work, while the actors continued negotiations over the weekend.
The actor strike is expected to end soon.
And, when it does, WWE will lose one of its major stars as Cena insists he cannot wrestle and act at the same time anymore.
"I've made it clear that you can't do both because of the liability insurance. If I were to try and juggle both, that's very selfish because I would put a whole lot of people in the movie business out of work if something were to happen to me," the 46-year-old explained in a press conference for WWE Fastlane.
"Yes, I stopped a project in the middle of it, I can't even talk about the project because of the strike, but we're in the middle of it.
"As soon as we get back to work, we go back to work. I don't control any of that. I'm crossing my fingers and I hope we can find a resolve everyone is happy with. For right now, I feel this is the best way I can help. To come back home to my family."
Should Cena leave WWE soon, his last match took place at Fastlane when he teamed with L.A. Knight in a winning effort against The Bloodline.
James Gunn back on Peacemaker duties
James Gunn has recommenced the development of Peacemaker season two after the writer's strike concluded.
The DC universe is being completely rebooted, but he did confirm that Peacemaker is one of three characters who will continue as planned, with Cena returning in the role. Gunn recently posted a video of Cena playing Bohemian Rhapsody on the piano during a day of filming on season one.
When asked by a fan when work will continue on season two, he responded: "Writing it Now".
Peacemaker was a huge critical success for Gunn and DC, with praise sent for the writing and the performances of the cast, particularly Cena as the titular anti-hero.
