Barbie had a successful evening at the People's Choice Awards, winning in five major categories.
The movie, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, grossed over $1.4 billion at the box office, making it the most successful film in history with a female director, Greta Gerwig, at the helm.
When the Oscar nominations were announced, fans were stunned that Robbie and Gerwig did not receive nods for Best Actress and Best Director, though the latter did receive a nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay alongside Noah Baumbach.
When asked previously by Deadline how she felt about the snub, Robbie responded:
"There's no way to feel sad when you know you're this blessed. Obviously I think Greta should be nominated as a director, because what she did is a once-in-a-career, once-in-a-lifetime thing, what she pulled off, it really is. But it's been an incredible year for all the films.
"I just suspect it (Barbie) is bigger than us. It's bigger than this movie, it's bigger than our industry. I'm beyond ecstatic that we've got eight Academy Award nominations, it's so wild."
Robbie did gain an Academy Award nomination as a producer on the project via the Best Picture category.
