The impact of the 2023 actor and writer strikes in Hollywood is still being felt in 2024 as many big productions face significant delays.
However, there are still some major, highly-anticipated movies that will be released this year, including The First Omen.
In 2016 it was announced that a new entry in The Omen franchise would be made, with Ben Jacoby writing the script. Though the story is based on Jacoby's ideas, the screenplay itself was subsequently written by Tim Smith, Arkasha Stevenson and Keith Thomas, with Stevenson also directing.
The original Omen, released in 1976, is recognised as one of the greatest horror movies of all time. It told the story of a man who discovers he is raising the antichrist after adopting another baby following the death of his infant son at birth.
Six movies have been produced in the movie series so far - The Omen, Damien: Omen II, Omen III: The Final Conflict, Omen IV: The Awakening, The Omen (remake) and The First Omen.
