The movie is a remake of the American television series of the same name which starred Lee Majors.

Over its five-year run, 113 episodes of the series aired.

Back in 2013, it was Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson who came close to being confirmed for a remake of The Fall Guy, with McG set to direct, but nothing materialised from those negotiations at the time and so the project went back into development.

What is the plot of The Fall Guy?

The official synopsis reads:

'A battered and past-his-prime stuntman finds himself working on a movie set with the star for whom he doubled long ago and who replaced him. The star then goes missing.'

The Fall Guy stars Ryan Gosling, Emily Blunt, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Hannah Waddingham, Teresa Palmer, Stephanie Hsu and Winston Duke.

From the trailer, it looks like this will be an enjoyable caper as there is already plenty of chemistry to be seen between Gosling and Blunt, who plays the director of the movie that Gosling's stuntman is working on.

David Leitch is behind the camera and that will come as positive news for action fans as he is partly responsible for some epic actioners over the past few years like John Wick, Deadpool 2 and Bullet Train.

Will there be a sequel to The Fall Guy?

There is certainly scope for a sequel but it will depend on the success of the first movie.

Steven Spielberg approves

Gosling met Steven Spielberg at the Golden Globes, and the legendary filmmaker gave his seal of approval on the movie.

“I saw Steven Spielberg walking in my direction," he recalled to Variety.

“I don’t know Steven Spielberg. I thought there’s no way he’s coming to talk to me. And yet he kept getting closer, and then I thought I know what’s going to happen. I’m going to point to him, and he’s going to go, ‘Not you, behind you,’ so I’m not going to do that. Finally, I said, ‘Me?’ and he goes, 'Yeah you.’ I go, ‘I’m sorry I didn’t think you were coming to talk to me.’ And I stood up and he gave me a hug and said, ‘I just saw Fall Guy and I loved it.'

“As far as I’m concerned it doesn’t matter anymore what happens. Steven Spielberg liked it. That was an all-time moment for me. I’m really excited for people to see it. I think it’s a really special movie.”
