Ik had nog eens zin in een ouderwetse poster KO. Ondertussen zijn de meeste genres al wel gepasseerd en algemene poster KO’s zijn er altijd wel op een of andere manier. Ik wilde daarom eens iets speciaal, een KO van films die nogal obscuur zijn, low budget, B-films of nog lager, films die wat meer richting exploitation, erotiek en andere meer trashy cinema gaan. Dit soort films bevindt zich nooit in toplijsten maar omdat ze vaak onbekend (en ongeliefd?) zijn zie je zo ook niet vaak in floplijsten.

Een firma die zich op het verdelen van dergelijke films heeft toegespitst is Something Weird Video. Sinds 1990 bestaan ze al, hebben hun naam ontleend van de film “Something Weird” uit 1967 van Herschell Gordon Lewis. Voor deze regisseur heb ik een zwak, zeker zijn horror al heeft hij uiteindelijk meer films in andere genres gemaakt. Zijn films zijn allemaal te verkrijgen bij deze firma. Andere namen die vaak terugkeren zijn Doris Wishman en David Friedman (vooral bekend als producer). Deze 3 hebben elk hun eigen categorie op de website van SWV en zijn goed vertegenwoordigd in deze KO. Deze werden nog aangevuld met andere categorieën vooral binnen de exploitatie en erotiek (geen hardcore porno). Sterkst vertegenwoordigd is de categorie Sexy Shockers, waar redelijk wat obscure horror tussen zit. De films zijn misschien niet best van de posters zullen horrorfans ongetwijfeld gaan smullen.

Trash, sleaze, rariteit noem het zoals je wilt. Ik heb al redelijk wat gezien (zeker van de 3 “grote” namen), maar ook nog veel niet. Ik ben geen fan maar wel liefhebber en heb vooral respect voor een firma die ook de minder gekende stuff niet verloren laat gaan. Titels die opgegeven werden als verloren en op een gegeven moment weer opduiken, SWV is meestal de plaats waar deze een nieuwe kans krijgen.

Juist omwille van de obscuriteit staan niet al deze films op MovieMeter. Maar omdat de kwaliteit van de gekozen posters van de films die er wel op staan nogal variabel is en vaak niet wordt gewijzigd, heb ik zelf alle posters geselecteerd. Ik heb bewust gekozen voor een beperkt aantal (128) want uiteindelijk weet ik ook niet hoe zeer dit project zal aanslaan. Ik zit er ook niet mee als dit een lager tempo heeft dan de KO’s van vroeger. De posters heb ik allemaal geplaats op postimage die de handige optie hebben om te grote posters aan te passen aan forumformaat. Dank hierbij aan HALVE TAMME. om mij deze site te tippen. Lijkt me ook stabieler dan Photobucket, die ik voorheen hiervoor gebruikte.

Voor degene die willen meedoen, bedankt en veel plezier gewenst. Voor jullie (die geregeld een stem uitbrengen), heb ik ook een prijs, met name een DVD met het SWV label als die een correct antwoord kan geven op de volgende vraag: Welke film heeft niet officieel het SWV label? (gelieve deze vraag te beantwoorden door naar mij een pm te sturen, je mag maar 1 titel doorgeven om de 24 u)
