Heb op zijn vroegere shorts en Dune na alles van hem gezien. De meeste verdienen inmiddels toch wel een herwaardering, vooral Lost Highway en Wild At Heart.

Geen heel bijzondere stijl, maar heeft toch heeft deze man vier sterke films afgeleverd die ik vooral goed vind doordat ze subtiel zijn zonder droog en saai te worden. Bijna doen de laatste twee films kaal aan, vandaar dat ik ze wat lager heb staan, maar met American Beauty heeft hij zijn absolute meesterwerk al afgeleverd dat perfect tragiek en lichte komedie met elkaar weet te mengen. Kijk nu al weer uit naar zijn volgende film.

Ben absoluut van plan alles van deze man te gaan zien, denk dat ik hem echt tot mijn favorieten regisseurs zou kunnen rekenen. Waarschijnlijk doe ik dat nu ook al, maar vind dat ik daarvoor nog te weinig gezien heb. Maar de vier films die ik heb gezien zijn net afgewerkte, slimme, uiterst boeiende en visueel prachtige films waarvan de eerste drie ook nog eens een perfecte sfeer neerzetten.

Hij heeft absoluut geweldige visuele kwaliteiten, helaas kiest hij slechte projecten uit om die te tonen. In bijna elke film van hem valt er wel een keer op dat Fincher echt een hele goede regisseur is, maar is het materiaal toch te matig en lijkt het of hij niet echt los mag gaan. Uiteraard heb ik het dan niet over Fight Club, waar hij eens een keer niet op de rem gaat. Hoop echt dat hij in de toekomst nog eens wat interessants gaat doen. Las eerst ergens dat hij een graphic novel van Charles Burns zou gaan verfilmen. Volgens mij is daar niks van waar, maar anders zou dat eindelijk weer een topper kunnen gaan worden.

Alfred Hitchcock, zonder twijfel de regisseur waar ik het meeste van heb gezien en ook één van de beste regisseurs aller tijden.

Een regisseur waar ik nooit op durf te vertrouwen. Kan geweldig mooi films maken, maar ook vreselijk saaie 'grootse' producties die er bij de massa ingaan als koek. Zijn nieuwste Robin Hood project spreekt mij totaal niet aan, maar er staan nog een aantal films op zijn lijst waar ik wel in geïnteresseerd ben. Misschien dat daar dan weer enkele meesterwerken in kan vinden, met Scott weet je het maar nooit.

Is deze beruchte Hollywood regisseur nou echt zo slecht? Nou ja, echt heel goed kan ik hem ook weer niet noemen en daarnaast zijn het gewoon mijn films niet. Maar heel slecht vind ik het nou ook weer niet. De enige film die ik dan weer niks vond is degene die zelfs door Bay haters bejubeld wordt. Misschien dat al die mensen niet kunnen tegen onnodige actie en grote explosies zonder al te veel inhoud? Van mij moet hij zich juist mee bezig houden met lekker inhoudsloos vermaak, dan kan ik zijn films eventueel nog wel slikken.

Uitermate interessante regisseur. En ook een erg mysterieuze, er valt erg weinig over hem te vinden op het internet. Voor zover ik kan vergelijken lijkt Jeunet mij de betere regisseur van het voormalige duo, maar op de een of andere manier ben ik toch net iets meer gefascineerd door Caro. Ben ik elk geval benieuwd waarmee hij als volgende op de proppen komt.

Blijft mijn favoriet. De man kan zo'n mooie vorm van spanning wekken. Dat blijft me verbazen. Zeker voor verhaallijnen die redelijk abstract zijn.

Miyazaki:

Miyazaki is de meester in ontspannen films maken die je eigenlijk altijd wel kunt opzetten. Kiki is erg underrated vind ik. Net als totoro een film die gewoon een lekker sfeertje heeft, zonder dat er zo nodig een groot verhaal aan hoeft te hangen.
