This seemed like a fun, original take on the cannibal genre. And it is, but unfortunately, the humor completely misses the mark for me. I simply don't find many of the characters in this film funny, and sometimes even irritating (I found the opening and closing sequences with the bearded guy and the female gas station attendant especially cringeworthy).
The choice of music may be a bit off at times, but it can't do much more than bring a smile.
The bloody fight at the end is, however, good old-fashioned fun to watch.
It's odd that even the appearance of relatively well-known faces doesn't seem to add much value. The flaw, in my opinion, lies in the script. James Roday did a fair bit of writing as well as directing. The direction is decent (especially for a debut), but the script could be much better.
Not a successful film for me.

I completely agree with Richard. I didn't appreciate the humor either, and because the comedy element in this film is much more important than the horror, that was disappointing. Despite its originality, the plot wasn't convincing either, and the acting was occasionally subpar.

Director James Roday takes full advantage of a competent cast, who manage to inject their roles with precisely the right comedic timing. This ensures that Gravy is frequently overflowing with wacky, humorous characters who manage to hold a reasonable amount of attention. However, this comes at the expense of menace and tension, causing the corresponding concentration to wane after half an hour. Roday is too slow to deliver on violence and sensationalism, ultimately culminating in a disappointing finale. The low budget is further creatively handled by transferring the pressure and space primarily to the cast, but Gravy could have been much more than it yielded.
