Synnöve Solbakken plot

Synnöve lives with her parents on the farm 'Solbakken' on a sunny hill. Thorbjörn lives on the farm 'Granliden' in the shadow of the hill. When they are both teenagers, Synnöve and Granliden meet and fall in love. Another boy, Knud Nordhaug, is also competing for Synnöve's hand. Together with two friends, he attacks Thorbjörn, but the three bullies are overpowered by the strong Thorbjörn, who knocks them off. Synnöve's father sees this. Knud convinces him that not he, but Thorbjörn was the attacker. From that moment on, Synnöve is no longer allowed by her parents to associate with Thorbjörn and their early love happiness is disturbed.
