Impressive film with a beautiful color palette (especially on Blu-ray) and beautifully portrayed psychology, but occasionally I also got the feeling that I had seen it all before with Antonioni, especially when Monica Vitti, whom I greatly admire. once again depicts despair and disorientation with that disobedient haircut, that haggard look and that nail-biting. Repetition is also lurking in other areas; Querelle (14-11-2009) and subsequently Reinbo (25-4-2011) mention Tati's Playtime as an interesting counterpart, but although I also had to think of Tati, it gave me a different association , because the sounds of the machines at the beginning of Deserto rosso unintentionally reminded me of the magnified sounds in Mon oncle and Playtime, and the the smile that involuntarily conjured up that memory on my face was of course not the intention. Nevertheless, Deserto rosso is a strong and poignant film, but not one of Antonioni's masterpieces for me.

Antonioni immortalized himself with 'Zabriskie Point' and 'Blowup', two of my favorite movies now. Maybe both even top 10 material. It is the English-language films that stand out, because despite the fact that I quite enjoyed this 'Il Deserto Rosso', I do not get further than a solid pass with this print, just like Antonioni's other films. Monica Vitti certainly has something.

Beautiful woman, fascinating role in this film. However, during its peak, this print moves to a completely different setting. From the gray, desolate atmospheres to a beautiful beach, where a girl swims around in the blue water. Totally something different all of a sudden, but very beautiful. Antonioni certainly does not disappoint, comes with a fascinating story, which loses some of its power towards the end. Enough.

Psychological film with a recognizable Antonioni from the first scenes (that silence only disturbed by nature and the noise produced by the actors themselves).

The beautiful cinematography, the visuals, the colors should help you through the behavior of some dejected, distant characters.

Doesn't always work for me.
